Fremont, CA -- September 8, 2003 -- PerkinElmer Optoelectronics, a global technology leader providing market-driven integrated solutions for biomedical and industrial applications, today announced the introduction of the ONA600 Optical Network Analyzer, a portable, modular fiber optic test product that makes it faster and easier to accurately assess the performance of high-speed optical telecommunications networks. Using patented PerkinElmer technology, the ONA600 reliably measures chromatic dispersion and – via an add-on module – spectral attenuation for all types of fibers and amplified links. Because users can test these two key network parameters at one sitting, the ONA600 requires less measurement time, less connection time, and less hardware. The ONA600 light source is available in O, C and L band versions and provides continuous scanning across the widest spectral range available, including the 1300 nanometer wavelength critical to testing CWDM networks. Smaller in size, lighter in weight and with lower power consumption, the ONA600 features a single fiber connection and an integrated computer. Built-in battery power contributes to the product’s mobility, making it practical for use in the laboratory or in the field. Measurements are now easier and faster to conduct with PerkinElmer’s incorporated color touch-screen and user-friendly software. Ideal for diagnostic and maintenance work, network tuning and calibration, and testing DWDM and CWDM network equipment, the ONA600 fulfills the network analysis needs of telecom system houses and installers, optical system designers, submarine cable installers and system maintenance crews. The ONA600 will be available later this year. “PerkinElmer received the prestigious Queen’s Award for Innovation this year for our pioneering work in fiber optic test products, and we are proud to continue building upon our proven track record of success with the ONA600,” said John Murphy, president, PerkinElmer Optoelectronics. “Customers will find that this smaller, lighter, and modular optical network analyzer is more reliable than ever and gives them greater control over network measurements.” Factors Affecting Future Performance This press release contains "forward-looking" statements within the meaning of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995, including, but not limited to, statements relating to estimates and projections of future earnings per share, cash flow and revenue growth and other financial results, developments relating to our customers and end-markets, and plans concerning business development opportunities.
