Fremont, CA -- July 29, 2003 -- PerkinElmer Optoelectronics, a global technology leader providing market-driven integrated solutions for biomedical and industrial applications, today announced that the company has continued its success in the military-aerospace industry by winning more than $16 million in new deals and delivering on product commitments to its customers. Additionally, PerkinElmer Optoelectronics has received the 2002 Raytheon/Lockheed-Martin Javelin Joint Venture Supplier of the Year Award in recognition of its 100 percent on-time delivery and very high quality levels.

Citing the need for unparalleled quality, accuracy, performance and reliability for demanding military-aerospace applications, customers placed new orders for a broad array of PerkinElmer Optoelectronics solutions, including:

• CCD cameras that provide highly accurate images for airborne reconnaissance and night vision applications
• Ruggedized fluorescent interior lights for the International Space Station
• Optical assemblies that provide navigation functions for missile guidance systems
• Logistical support for the electronic assemblies in strategic weapons systems

In addition to these customer wins, PerkinElmer has achieved major milestones in the delivery of new products to its customers. As part of a multi-year agreement, PerkinElmer delivered the first shipment of power supplies for use in the US Navy's fiber optic data multiplex system (FODMS), which controls the flow of critical information from computer to computer on naval ships.

PerkinElmer has also delivered integrated infrared (IR) illuminator subsystems, high-intensity handheld solutions with IR light engines, radiant sources, power regulation, battery charging, optical filters, reflectors and other efficient optics technologies for active reconnaissance and remote security surveillance.
