CHROMOS TLS provides best of both worlds - lab quality measurement in compact, rugged package - for field tests and maintenance
Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC), Atlanta, GA -- March 25, 2003 -- PerkinElmer Optoelectronics, a global technology leader providing market-driven integrated solutions for biomedical and industrial applications, today announced the introduction of CHROMOS TLS, the industry's most portable and programmable laser tuner for testing fiber optic network equipment. The rugged, compact unit houses a workhorse light source that is easy to transport and program, making it uniquely suited to diagnostic and maintenance work, as well as network calibration and laboratory testing. The CHROMOS TLS is fully programmable with user-friendly PC software that enables network operators, system designers, and field engineers to dial up specific wavelengths at specific times in specific patterns. This quick and easy programming capability allows users to view changes in the optical powers of particular wavelengths over time, and gauge the effects of system aging, temperature drift and other factors that may affect network performance. The dual-band unit covers the C band, L band or both C and L bands with no wavelength gaps. The CHROMOS TLS also generates more complex automatic sequences for repetitive or unattended testing of WDM / DWDM / CWDM systems. "The combination of portability and programmability is unique to PerkinElmer's CHROMOS TLS, giving customers a flexible, cost-effective solution to meet a variety of channel measurement needs," said John Murphy, President of PerkinElmer Optoelectronics. "We have responded to customer demand for a wavelength-agile source with a compact, tunable laser that is ideal for laboratory, network, and field applications - wherever portability, accuracy and ease of operation are critical." Available in April, the CHROMOS TLS joins the CHROMOS 11 and CHROMOS 12 as part of PerkinElmer's family of chromatic measurement products for testing fiber optic network equipment.
